There are a ton of options out there already, check out turbosquid and cgtrader for their free models, and grabcad for more industrial stuff. renderpeople.com has free humans to play with, I think they even have rigged versions.
You do need to read and pay attention to CC terms for these, as you will with any free asset you would find on the internet. Usually any personal work is fine.
